As part of my previous local authority work duties, I enforced various regulations, one of which was noting vehicles which parked on main road grass verges. These verges have "Do not park on grass verges" signs on them.
On one occasion, I spotted a large van parked completely on such a verge.
After I took a photo of the vehicle, the driver asked why.
When I pointed to the sign and told him that his employers may receive a bill for the repair of the verge, he called me.....
a Petty Vindictive Bastard!
When
I later told my colleagues of this, they laughed, agreed
with him, and the nickname
stuck!
